The Marriage Project

Our prayer is that this marriage ministry will be a blessing to Concordia and to our community! At the heart of this ministry are couples in marriage small groups that gather to learn, grow, and strengthen their marriages.

Are you willing to lead a Marriage small group for the 6-week Fall 2019 study, "Cherish" by Gary Thomas?

If so, click here  to complete the group leader form. It will take about 2 minutes to complete.

Are you interested in joining a Marriage small group this fall?  Just send an email to and we will get you connected to a group!

Maybe you are not able to be part of a Marriage small group this session, but you and your spouse are looking for a marriage-focused activity to do on your own.

"The Marriage Journal" is a great resource!

The Marriage Journal™ (Formerly Navigator's Council) is a weekly communication journal for your marriage. It will help with understanding and connecting with your spouse. The foundation of the journal is 6 questions that you will ask each other, and record your answers to, once a week.

Each week includes a short devotional to help remember the beauty of love and spark good conversation.

There is a weeklong calendar page for you both to communicate about events, appointments, social gatherings, and big to-do's for the upcoming week.

Fall 2019 Marriage Study

We hope you will plan to be part of a Fall 2019 Marriage small group where the study will be "Cherish.

This 6-week study was written by best selling author Gary Thomas. Gary draws on personal stories and teachings from the Bible to show how cherishing can have a powerful effect on marriage. Learning to truly cherish each other turns marriage from an obligation into a delight. It lifts marriage above a commitment to a precious priority. Cherishing can breathe light, hope, and new life into a marriage—even one marred by neglect and disrespect.

We did the "Cherish" study a couple of years ago and believe it is worth repeating.  However, if your small group wants to try a different marriage study, just go to Study Gateway and take a look at the other studies available.

Couples who are already in a marriage small group will start this study on their regular meeting day.  Couples who are in marriage small groups that meet at Concordia on Sundays at 9:30am will begin on October 6.

Concordia uses an on-line resource called Study Gateway for the video teaching sessions of our marriage studies.

The Marriage Project FAQ:

WHO can participate?
ALL married couples (members and non-members)

WHY should you participate?
No matter how long (or short) you have been married, you will receive tools and information to help make your marriage better.

WHERE will the materials come from?
Concordia has established a relationship with Study Gateway as the platform for the video teaching you will use. Each couple in the group will receive an invitation to join Study Gateway (free of charge). You’ll be amazed at how many different studies are available!

WHAT will be happening?
At the heart of this new ministry is for groups of people to all be working together to learn, grow and strengthen their marriages.

Each group decides what day and time works best for them.

HOW long will each meeting be?
Most groups will meet for 1 to 1 ½ hours each week.

Most groups meet at the group leaders’ or members' home, and some groups meet on Sundays at Concordia.
