Resources

The goal of this resource is to help readers engage with the Book of Kings more faithfully, more contextually, and with a greater appreciation for its intricacies.

This is not a scholarly publication, nor is it an exhaustive treatment of the text.

Many of the insights you’ll find here represent the diligent work of theologians, scholars, and historians – men and women far more knowledgeable than I am. The insights in this resource draw on a number of works, many of which I’ve listed in the “For Further Reading” section at the end of this booklet.

The stories in Kings are amazing, confusing, and often deeply troubling.

They tell of wisdom and folly, worship and idolatry, courage and cowardice, judgment and mercy. Each story is essential to the larger narrative being told: the rise and ruin of the kingdom, the failure of her kings, and the steadfast faithfulness of the God of Israel.

This Apocalyptic Literature Toolkit is meant to be just that: a simple, accessible set of tools to help you navigate books like Daniel and Revelation, along with apocalyptic passages scattered throughout both the Old and New Testaments. It is designed with Concordia-based Bible curriculum in mind and is intended for use in a church setting. This is not a scholarly publication, nor is it a comprehensive or exhaustive treatment of apocalyptic literature.

Word for Today

This Bible reading plan takes you through most of the Holy Scriptures each weekday of the year. Each day has three Bible readings:
• The first reading is a chapter from the New Testament.
• The second reading is a section from Old Testament history.
• The third reading is from the books of Psalms and Proverbs.
You’re welcome to read one, two, or all three of the readings every weekday. And if you fall behind, don’t worry! You can either use the weekends to catch up or you can simply dive in to the reading for that day, even if you’ve missed a few days, weeks, or even months!

Study Gateway is an online community with access to hundreds of Bible studies and other biblically based video curriculum from well-known Christians authors. Watch the videos anytime, anywhere for personal or group study!

Ask Anything

How do we know God is real? What age will we be in heaven? Why does God allow tragedies? Will our pets be in heaven? Who wrote the Bible?

These are just a few of the many questions that have been answered in our “Ask Anything” sessions! Our pastors take faith-based questions live and use scripture to answer. Take a look at all of the questions below, and keep an eye out for our next “Ask Anything!”

Preaching Project

What is the Preaching Project? This started as an experiment in which we could share all of our sermon series resources and together, engage in the same series across our congregations. By registering below, you will have free access to complete sermon series and more to use and modify as needed for your congregation.
